Privacy Policy

1. General information

This Privacy Policy describes how the Mezu application (“Mezu”, the “App”) stores and uses information entered by the user.

Mezu is designed according to a local-first approach. This means that data created by the user is generally stored locally on the user’s device, and the App currently does not use its own server to store a copy of that data.

Mezu does not require users to create an account.

For questions concerning privacy, data security, or the operation of the App, users may contact the above email address.

If you contact Mezu by email, the information you provide in your message, including your email address and the content of your message, may be processed solely for the purpose of responding to your request and handling your inquiry. Mezu does not use such information for advertising or user profiling.

3. What data may be stored in Mezu

Depending on how the App is used, the following information may be stored locally on the user’s device:

activity names and settings
activity history
numerical values
scale ratings
categories
tags
dates and information relating to activity history
information about skipped activities
notes or other content entered by the user
reminder settings
other information necessary for the App’s features

The scope of stored data depends on the features the user uses and the information the user chooses to enter.

Users may voluntarily enter any content into the App. Mezu does not analyze or moderate content entered by users.

Users should therefore decide for themselves what information they wish to store in the App.

4. Data processing

Information may be processed for the following purposes:

Providing the App’s features and generating statistics, summaries, and other information based on data stored locally on the user’s device.
Providing reminders and local notifications configured by the user.
Responding to support requests and inquiries sent by email.
Maintaining and securing the operation of the App.

Data stored in the App is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not transferred to third parties for marketing or profiling. Data stored in the App is processed locally on the user’s device and is not sent to Mezu servers.

5. Statistics and data analysis

Mezu may process data stored on the user’s device locally in order to generate statistics, summaries, and other information relating to activity history.

This processing takes place locally within the App and does not require data to be sent to an external server.

Statistics presented by Mezu are informational and are calculated based on data stored in the App. They do not constitute professional medical, psychological, financial, or other professional advice.

6. Reminders and notifications

Mezu may use local system notifications to remind users about activities.

Reminders are configured by the user and handled locally on the device.

Mezu does not send reminder content to its own server.

7. Data export and backups

Mezu allows users to export data for the purpose of creating a backup.

The export includes the database used by the App.

The export is initiated by the user. After the user selects a destination or sharing method, the file may be stored or transferred using features and services available on the device.

Mezu does not automatically receive a copy of the exported file and does not store it on its own servers.

If the user chooses to store or share a backup using a third-party service, further processing of that file may be subject to that service’s privacy policy and terms.

Users should store backups in a secure location and take responsibility for protecting them.

8. Data import

Mezu also allows users to import a previously exported database.

Import is performed locally on the device.

Import replaces the App’s current database with the data contained in the imported file.

If an older or different database copy is imported, data currently stored in the App may be replaced.

Users should make sure they have an up-to-date backup of any data they wish to keep before importing.

Once the current database has been replaced, the App does not guarantee that the previous version can be recovered.

9. Data deletion

Mezu allows users to delete individual data within the functionality provided by the App.

Mezu currently does not provide a single function for deleting the entire local database from within the App.

Because data is stored locally, the Mezu developer does not hold a central copy of user data that could be deleted upon request.

Uninstalling the App may result in deletion of locally stored data. If the user does not have a backup, recovery may not be possible.

10. Risk of data loss

Due to the local nature of data storage, Mezu cannot guarantee that data stored on the user’s device will always remain available and unchanged.

Data may be lost or corrupted, including as a result of:

App errors
errors during updates or database migrations
corruption of the local database
technical problems with the device or operating system
insufficient storage space
uninstalling the App
incorrect data import or export
user actions
other unforeseen technical issues

The Mezu developer takes reasonable steps to support the proper operation of data-storage mechanisms; however, the local nature of the App means that preservation of data cannot be guaranteed in all circumstances.

Users are responsible for creating and securely storing their own backups.

In particular, users are advised to create a backup before updating the App, importing data, or performing other operations that may affect the local database.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Mezu developer is not liable for loss, unavailability, or corruption of local data resulting from circumstances outside the developer’s reasonable control, including device or operating-system issues, App uninstallation, failure to maintain a backup, or improper use of import and export functions.

Nothing in this provision excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

11. Device permissions

Mezu does not require access to:

the user’s location
contacts
camera
microphone
photos for the basic operation of the App
Apple Health / HealthKit
Bluetooth devices

Mezu does not operate its own user-tracking mechanism based on IP addresses, device identifiers, or other identifiers for the purpose of analyzing user behavior.

The permissions required by the App may change in future versions if new features are introduced. In such a case, the relevant privacy information will be updated.

12. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Mezu currently does not use third-party analytics services or user-tracking systems such as Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar solutions.

Mezu does not display advertisements or use third-party advertising services.

13. Data sharing

Mezu does not transfer data stored locally on the user’s device to other parties for storage or analysis.

However, users may independently choose to export or share a copy of their data using system features or third-party services available on their device.

In such cases, further processing of the data may be subject to the privacy policy and terms of the party to which the user has provided the data.

If Mezu begins using third-party services in the future that involve transmitting or processing user data, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

14. Data security

Mezu uses local data-storage mechanisms available on the user’s device.

At the same time, no method of data storage can guarantee complete security in every possible circumstance.

Users should use available device security mechanisms, such as a passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, or other system security features, if they wish to limit other people’s access to data stored in the App.

15. Sensitive personal information and user content

Mezu may be used to record information about everyday life, well-being, health, habits, activities, or other personal observations if the user chooses to enter such information.

Mezu does not require users to provide such information and does not monitor its content.

Users should exercise caution when entering information whose disclosure could compromise their own privacy or another person’s privacy.

Mezu is not a diagnostic tool and is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or other specialist assistance.

16. Minors

Mezu may be used by persons under the age of 18. Where required by applicable law, use of the App by a minor should take place with the involvement or consent of a parent or legal guardian.

The App does not require personal data to create an account because it currently does not have a user-account system.

17. Changes to the operation of the App

Mezu may be developed and updated. In the future, features may be added, changed, or removed, including features relating to data storage, processing, or synchronization.

If changes affect the way user data is processed, the relevant information in this Privacy Policy will be updated.

The date of the latest update will be shown at the beginning of this document.

18. User rights

Because Mezu stores user-created data locally on the user’s device and does not maintain a central copy of that data, requests concerning data stored in the App will generally need to be handled directly by the user through the App’s available features.
